July Beginning Supported Spindle with Angie
Beginning Supported Spindle
Date: July 27th Time 11:30 - 2:30
Cost: $80.00
Wanting to spin very fine singles or very short fibers? Come learn to spin with support spindles! We will start with the basics of spinning supported - getting the fiber attached to the spindle, spinning and drafting, winding a stable cop, types of spindles and bowls. Knowledge of drop spindle spinning will help but is not necessary.
Supplies:
Blazing Star does not sell support spindles so please bring YOUR OWN support spindle and bowl.
They DO sell Turkish spindles, which can be spun supported. Any bowl can be used as a spinning bowl as long as it is smooth and shorter than the whorl. Some people use worry stones or the bottoms of salt/pepper shakers.
Teacher Bio
Angie grew up in Colorado and has been knitting and crocheting as long as she can remember. She learned to spin a few years ago and has been threatening to teach all her friends and family ever since. When she is not spinning (or working), she is reading or watching British murder mysteries with her dog…while crocheting or knitting.
