Creating a Fusion of Color and Texture
Aug 8th 2- 5:30ish
Cost for class: $100 which includes one bundle of yarns.
Extra bundles will be available for purchase for $20 the day of class.
Dyeing Yarn with Multiple Fibers and Textures
In this class students will learn about different dye types and methods, color theory, and
color inspiration.
Together we’ll dye a Fusion skein containing 10 different fibers and textures, using acid dyes, in which we will see how different fibers - wool, silk, bamboo, alpaca, mohair - all take color from acids dyes differently. Each student will begin with a 200+ yard multi- fiber/multi-textured skein of yarn containing the above fibers and blends thereof, and with Kimberly’s guidance and assistance, using acid dyes, will create a one of a kind skein in the color(s) that you select. Students will be delighted with the Fusion of Color and Texture resulting from this method of dyeing yarns.
Example projects and free patterns/inspiration for knitting or weaving your finished skein
will be available.
Students should bring an apron (or wear old clothes), paper and pen. Gloves, dust masks,
yarn and dye materials will be provided.
